  • Agatha Christie, mostly. I have been reading her since I was a child and never quite recovered.

    If you ask me about my favorite novel of hers I might say Crooked House. Ask me again next week and I might say And Then There Were None. Ask me on a Sunday and I might say Hercule Poirot's Christmas. This is not a simple question!

  • No. Every character, every neighborhood, every murder is entirely fictional. The emotional truth of how violence affects the people who survive it comes from my professional work with real survivors, but the story itself is invented.

  • No. I write around a full time career in the criminal justice system, which means I write during late nights and stolen weekends.

    If you have ever wondered whether writing a novel is possible while working a demanding job, the answer is yes, but it requires a great deal of commitment and a slightly unreasonable amount of stubbornness.

  • Yes, the Athena Campbell series is only the beggining.

    A cozy mystery series is in development, set in a very different world from the Athena Campbell books as well as a prequel series about Athena’s early years in Maine.

    I promise it will be worth the wait!
